Summertime Memories

Well, as you can probably tell, we weren't able to keep our promise of monthly posts throughout 2010 and are definitely not going to make any promises for 2011 with the arrival of the newest Matthews!

But here are a few pictures of how we spent our summer - slipping and sliding, hitting the waves, relaxing to Jack Johnson and playing in the sand!

Hope everyone had a great summer and hope to have some more photos (with our new family member) coming this fall!

Parties and a playdate!

OK, so one month down and we couldn't keep our New Year's resolution of blogging once a month. It's that darn thing called "work" that always seems to get in the way of things we want to do. Unfortunately it is that time of year where there isn't much going on, the holidays are over, days are still short and the warm weather is still months away. But at least we have Jack to keep us entertained.

Although Jack is not yet 2 years old, he does officially have his first chore...helping Dada put the "groceries" away.

We started off the month with a very special 2nd birthday party for our friend Ava. Jack throughly enjoyed the lunch, the cupcakes, the INDOOR bounce house and all of Ava's toys. Jack's only complaint, "Why is everything so pink?"

Then at the end of the month, we were able to enjoy Jack's first big snowfall. Our neighbors, Finley and Elliot, had the best hill for sledding...their driveway! We know it was nothing compared to what up North is dealing with this month but hey, we North Carolinians will take whatever we can get! A few good trips on the sled and then the sitting in front of the fire watching TV...what could be a better way to spend a snow day? And yes, in case you hadn't noticed...Jack's hat does say "Porn Star". Thanks Dada.

As you can see, not too many exciting outings this month but we were able to spend some quality time at home and get some well needed rest and relaxation. Some needed it more than others! (Note: the little one is awake!)

Wrap up to 2009

Well, 2009 has come and gone and with that comes a new beginning, Patsy is taking over the blog. To start fresh with 2010, we are going to do a quick recap to the end of 2009 and hopefully start with monthly blogs in 2010. Don't hold us to that though!

December brought us a whole bunch of visits starting with one from Jack's PA grandma and ending with one from the big guy up North. In between Jack was able to spend some quality time with Dada and goofing around with Mama. Jack was able to tell Santa exactly what he wanted prior to his December 24 arrival, just as long as Mama stayed close. And during his consultation with the big guy, Jack was able to have breakfast with his two of his favorite ladies, Elliot and Finley. Finally, Santa made it to Holly Springs and did not disappoint. Santa must have thought Jack was the perfect child this year because he definitely had Jack on his "good list". As you can see from the photos, Jack (AND Brad) loved what Santa brought. And to wrap up the year, Jack took Mama and Dada to Kidzu Children's Museum in Chapel Hill. Jack built towers with Dada, did arts and crafts with Mama but nothing could top cooking in the kitchen. Brad has to admit, this was his favorite too!

While 2009 has brought a lot of firsts and wonderful memories, we can't wait to start 2010 and see what this year brings next! Stay tuned for the Jan 2010 wrap-up in just a few days!
